How I Started
After leaving my 9 to 5 job in the corporate call center industry, I decided to work at home while my husband ran a traditional retail business. It wasn’t something I found very promising at first because I did not have friends or family members who knew what working at home was. Not one of them knew or believed that it was even possible to work at home. It was a new industry in the country so I was groping in the dark as I tried to understand what it was and whether or not it was possible.
But because of a dwindling bank account, I felt the urge to stop scrutinizing and just grab one of the first opportunities that came my way the next time I browsed the Internet — and so I did! It wasn’t a happy start. I got scammed on several occasions until I finally got a real client after one to two months. Then another after a month, and another… until I became more and more confident that this was something that I will really live to work on for a long, long time.
And it is!
I started my journey on March 2012 with just two to three clients. I had no training except that I am fluent in English, I had experience in writing back in high school and college, I had basic computer skills, and I had the determination to succeed. The first projects I handled involved writing articles, posting in social media, and assisting in data entry work on a part time basis. This gave me hope about working online and at home. I finally proved that it was possible! I no longer had to hire babysitters to look after my child, who was three years old then, because my husband and I were there for her.
On September 2014, with the help of a friend, my cousin, and my brother, I started Professional Virtual Assistant as an official online business — a VA business that catered to clients across all continents. And because I was working at home, I did not have a hard time adjusting when I had my second child in 2013.
On October 2016, I launched JL Professional Virtual Assistant as an official business entity in the country (but as sole proprietor) with the help of my friends, family members, and my first official VA team.
Today, we continue to provide affordable and quality services to clients across all industries. We help them manage all their day-to-day business tasks that may sometimes seem insignificant but are important to business success. We help eliminate chaos so our clients can focus on the most important aspects of their businesses.
